A thrilling 3-3 draw that saw the reds win penalties to book spot in plate semi finals.

In a riveting Plate Quarter-Finals clash, Barnsley Women's faced a resilient Hull City side in a rollercoaster of a match that culminated in a dramatic 3-3 draw, but the reds going through after winning on penalties. The spirited encounter showcased the skill of both teams, who you have to think will be competing for promotion come May.

The opening half was a display of attacking prowess from both sides, with Hull City taking an early lead. Barnsley Women's responded emphatically, levelling the score with a well-executed goal from Abi Housecroft. The first half was a testament to the competitive nature of the Plate Quarter-Finals, ending with a deadlock at 2-1, after Hull scored from a speculative 35 yard effort.

Straight after half time Barnsley levelled via an own goal after good work from Pierrepont down the left and then took the lead late on through Charlotte Stuart, but Hull City managed to level the score at 3-3 with a late goal.

Extra time didn't lack drama either as both teams pushed with Hull having the majority of the ball and the chances. Clarke pulling out a number of fantastic saves to keep the reds in the game.

With the match deadlocked at 3-3, the contest moved to a nerve-wracking penalty shootout. With a heroic save from Clarke allowing Ruby Jex-Oldfield the chance to win it for the reds.

The Plate Quarter-Finals clash between Barnsley Women's and Hull City will go down as a classic encounter filled with drama, goals, and a penalty shootout spectacle.

The reds are back in action next week as we travel to Durham in the league.
