ETC Purpose/Overview
Barnsley Women’s FC Girls’ Emerging Talent Centre exists to offer talented girls in school years 6 to 11 (U11s to U16s) in the local region the opportunity to develop their skills for a potential future pathway into elite football. The centres will provide a holistic approach, developing both the player and person within a safe environment where players can flourish, learn, take risks and develop into becoming the best they can be. The ETC consists of three age groups; U12s (Years 6/7), U14s (Years 8/9), U16s (Years 10/11) alongside a goalkeeping group. The programme will consist of a 32-week training and games programme across the academic/school year, underpinned by technical/tactical, physical, psychological and social development. The training and games programme will be delivered creatively with each individuals players needs in mind. All players are encouraged (where appropriate) to combine attending the ETC with playing and training for a grassroots football team at all levels.
